The mirror with its many facets will be one of the central artistic design elements of the project's productions.
The image of the mirror has been an integral part of European literature since antiquity. Its symbolism has undergone many changes and interpretations in the course of European history. Just think of the motif of the Doppelgänger, self-encounter, self-knowledge, fractured identity, reflection, vanity, lust, prudence, truth, mirror as gateway and passage into another world, just to name a few.
In times of the internet, reflections of one's own click behaviour play an increasingly important role (echo bubbles etc.).
In the first months of the PPP project, dramaturgical and scenic ideas are collected together with the selected dancers and the artistic team. On this page, we will inform you about our development and creative process as an insight into our ideas and production workshop in Covid19 times.
14 CULTURAL AND EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AROUND EUROPE IN ONE COLLABORATION PROJECT
One of the attractions of this partnership between the individual institutions is certainly its diversity. This concerns the project's size, its orientation and its activities as well. The size of the cities and their socio-economic conditions are also very different:
The project encompasses 4 capital cities, Lisbon, Prague, Riga, Vilnius, the metropolitan region of Turin with our partner Venaria Reale, 3 university cities with 100,000 to 200,000 inhabitants Sibiu, Girona, Freiburg, as well as 5 cities with different tourism/post-industrial challenges and a different composition of population structure: Helsingør, Loulé, Varazdin, Alytus, Grimsby.
Due to the geographical location of the partners, the associated challenges and opportunities of Europe to be represented as broadly as possible in the project was also an important cultural-political aspect in the conception of the 14 partners in 11 countries.
This diversity of partners enriches the PPP project, as they bring different competences from the fields of social working, creation, organisation in public space, evaluation, site specific work, communication as well as different levels and experiences in audience development to the project.
This is an ideal prerequisite for a long-term cooperation beyond the project, because opportunities for comparison between similar institutions alternate with inspiration from institutions with a completely different orientation.
All are united by curiosity and the desire to learn from each other and to develop further with the project.
